Thalassa Limonari Villas - Meganisi

Greece is a land of contrast and surprises, so it’s no wonder that one of the smallest of the inhabited Ionian Islands is called Meganisi – the “Big” Island! Small though it may be in area, Meganisi is big in quiet charm, unspoilt land and seascapes.

Imagine a house built of and set amongst warm limestone rocks, set on a terrace, with an uninterrupted view across the sheltered waters of the Ionian Sea to the mountains of the mainland and the island of Kalamos. Then add a private swimming pool with shaded seating, BBQ, and a spacious villa containing two bedrooms and an open plan living area with wide French doors bringing the view right inside, modern fully fitted kitchens and bathrooms. But there’s more! How about relaxing beneath a sunshade, surrounded by herbs and aromatic shrubs with the waves lapping at your feet and your holiday reading forgotten in favour of that most restorative of occupations, just watching the ocean? This is no dream as a holiday in any one of these delightful villas will confirm.

Forget long hot drives, tailbacks and crowded shops; they don’t exist on Meganisi. 5 minutes drive will take you to waterside tavernas and well-stocked mini-markets or time your arrival to buy fresh fish straight off the boat. On foot, the beach with its white pebbles at Limonari is a short stroll of three or four minutes, a little more if you get sidetracked onto one of the many shaded paths that crisscross the island.

A final thought: whilst we thoroughly recommend these villas for that perfect holiday in the height of the summer, spring and autumn time is where the island is transformed into a beautiful wild flower garden, truly a sight not to be missed! No wonder the swallows and other migrating birds choose to break their long journeys here. They know a good thing when they see one!
